AI for empty lymph node risk assessment in endometrial cancer surgery

Duration: Jul 2024 – Jun 2026 · Funder: Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna (CARISBO) · Total budget: €20,000

A collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Bologna and the University Hospital of Bologna IRCCS, Sant’Orsola Polyclinic. The project develops an AI-based tool capable of estimating the probability that retroperitoneal tissue marked with indocyanine green—collected according to the standardized sentinel lymph node biopsy procedure—will turn out to be an empty lymph node packet at final microscopic analysis.

My role: Co-Principal Investigator (scientific responsibility).
